What is UL?

Widely adopted as standard in North America, UL stands for Underwriters Laboratories Inc an independent product safety testing and certification organization.

Specific to lighting, UL requires a luminaire to be marked for a dry, damp, or wet location.

Dry Locations:
A location not normally subject to dampness, but may include a location subject to temporary dampness, provided ventilation is adequate to prevent an accumulation of moisture.

Damp Location:
An exterior or interior location that is normally or periodically subject to condensation of moisture in, on, or adjacent to, to the luminaire.

Wet Locations:
A location in which water or other liquid can drip, splash, or flow on or against electrical equipment.

UL options:

The Exterior Guide on the product page will state the UL options we offer as standard for the fixture. Other ratings may be possible with modifications.

We always suggest seeking the advice of your installing electrician to ensure the suitability of the fixture.

	Finishes with this symbol are recommended for exterior use.

We recommend a Stove Lacquer (a clear protective coating baked on) for finishes with this symbol.

The Stove Lacquer will preserve the appearance of the finish when exposed to moisture.

Please note stove lacquer may even out some tones and add a slight sheen to the finish.

Highly suitable for outdoor use all designs can be specified in any paint colour, from any paint supplier, or matched to a Pantone or RAL colour.
