Wind Cables

Wind Cable illustration

For particularly exposed exterior locations such as porches, verandas and pergolas, hanging lanterns can be adapted for use with wind cables to minimise any movement of the fixture in the wind. Wind cables are a more discreet alternative to wind chains.

A hanging lantern with wind cables will minimise any swinging or twisting movement of the lantern in the wind. All chain can be amended in length onsite as required.

The lantern design is modified to include connection points for the wind cable to attach to, with the wind cables acting as anchors for the lantern.

Each specified design will be reviewed individually by our design team to modify the frame as required to ensure suitability. Different lantern shapes may suit different numbers of wind cables.

Anchors for the lantern

Generally, the wind cable fixings should be equally spaced on the wall, or ceiling to create a similar angle between the cable axes (i.e. 90° for 4 cables). Wall fixings should be perpendicular to the lantern and ceiling fixings should be installed as far as possible from the lantern.

As standard we offer Reutlinger stainless steel wind cables with corresponding fixings. On install the cables are discreet and do not interfere with the overall aesthetic of the lantern. The image shows the scale of the cable and fixing next to a pound coin.

Approval

When you have made your selection of lantern our sales team can provide a quote for consideration. Please state the approximate lengths of wind cables required. Once you decide to proceed the design team will create a CAD drawing for your approval.
