An alternative to clear glass, clear polycarbonate is specified on some of our larger fixtures to reduce overall weight, or eliminate the risk of breakage. On installed fixtures the effect is not discernible from clear glass.
For a diffused light, or to hide bulb fittings you may consider Opal Polycarbonate.
